Deep River (1917)
Tenor Omar Bowey sings Harry T. Burleigh's concert spiritual "Deep River," accompanied by Kamel Boutros. "Deep River” which became the hit of the recital season in 1916-1917. It was sung by many, including Roland Hayes, Sidney Woodward and President Woodrow Wilson's daughter, Margaret. Marian Anderson and Paul Robeson both recorded versions in 1916. Bowey and Boutros performed as a part of the Harry T. Burleigh Society tribute to Burleigh's Annual Service of Negro Spirituals on Friday, March 31, 2017 at St. George's Church in New York City.
